Thought for the Day

First of all, let me say this...the following has nothing to do with Century 21, nor my broker agency, but are strictly and wholly my thoughts entirely. Now, let's get to it.

What happened to freedom of speech?? Is it a thing of the past? I'm talking about this whole thing with Miss California Carrie Prejean. Whether you agree with her stance on gay marriage or not, what about her right to have her own thoughts and convictions. Have we now moved to a place that we have to change our minds and beliefs just because someone else might disagree? This brings to mind a quote that I've heard..."I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it".

With all the changes in society, everyone wants to go to the Constitution for justice. Where in the Constitution does it say anything about you have a right NOT to be offended? This great nation was founded on free-thinking based on God's Word. His Word has not and will not change whether it fits your lifestyle or not. Are we now to buckle under to the squeaky wheel? Dont' misunderstand me, I am in no way giving way to anyone being abused, but that means anyone, including Ms. Prejean. The gay community want their rights, but it seems they want their rights at the expense of the rights of others. I believe that we can all have our individual convictions and still find common ground on which to love each other. Let's not look for reasons to separate from each other, but find reasons that we can come together and change the world for the best. I believe that we can all have a voice, as we should, but not at the destruction of someone's character. We will NEVER agree on every issue but we don't have to seek destruction of someone for having the courage to share their convictions. When in a competition, killing the competitor is not winning.

Just my thoughts, and if you would like to respond, I welcome yours. Contact me at tony.gooch@century21.com.
